കേരളത്തിൽ ഏറ്റവും വലിയ മാഫിയ സംഘമായി ക്വാറി വ്യവസായികൾ മാറിയിരിക്കുന്നുവെന്നും  ഉന്നതതല ബന്ധവും സ്വന്തമായ ചാരവലയവുമുള്ള ഈ മാഫിയ കേരളത്തെ നശിപ്പിക്കുകയാണ് എന്നും പ്രതിപക്ഷ നേതാവ് വി. ഡി സതീശൻ പറഞ്ഞു.നിയമപരമായ അനുമതികൾ ഉള്ള ക്വാറികൾ പോലും ലൈസൻസിൽ പറഞ്ഞതിന്റെ പലമടങ്ങ് വിസ്തൃതിയിലും ആഴത്തിലും ആണ് ഖനനം നടത്തുന്നത്. സർക്കാരിന് ലഭിക്കേണ്ട വരുമാനം പോലും ലഭിക്കുന്നില്ല .എല്ലാ സംവിധാനങ്ങളെയും ഈ നിയമവിരുദ്ധ സംഘം വരുതിയിലാക്കുന്നു. പിണറായി സർക്കാർ അധികാരത്തിൽ വന്നതോടെ  ദൂരപരിധി നിയന്ത്രണങ്ങൾ അടക്കം എടുത്തു കളഞ്ഞു കടുത്ത പ്രകൃതി ചൂഷണത്തിന് ഒത്താശ ചെയ്യുകയാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. വിഴിഞ്ഞം അടക്കമുള്ള പദ്ധതികൾ പശ്ചിമഘട്ടത്തെ തകർക്കുന്നതാണെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു 


ഗ്രീൻ കേരള മൂവ്മെൻറ് സെക്രട്ടറിയേറ്റിനു മുന്നിൽ ക്വാറി മാഫിയയിൽ നിന്നും കേരളത്തെ രക്ഷിക്കുക എന്ന ആവശ്യം ഉയർത്തി നടത്തിയ ധർണയിൽ പ്രസംഗിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം .കേരള ശാസ്ത്ര സാഹിത്യ പരിഷത്ത് സംസ്ഥാന പ്രസിഡണ്ട് ബി. രമേഷ് ധർണ്ണ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു 


കാലാവസ്ഥാ വ്യതിയാനവും ആഗോളതാപനവും അറബിക്കടലിന്റെ താപനിലയിൽ ക്രമാതീതമായ വർദ്ധനവിന് കാരണമാകുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ അതിതീവ്ര മഴയും കടൽക്ഷോഭങ്ങളും പെരുകും. ഈ സാഹചര്യത്തിൽ കേരള വികസനത്തെ കുറിച്ചുള്ള പരമ്പരാഗത ധാരണകൾ ആകെ മാറ്റപ്പെടണം .ഗാഡ്ഗിൽ കമ്മിറ്റി റിപ്പോർട്ട് അടക്കം ചർച്ച ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ട് പരിഹാര വഴിയിലേക്ക് കേരളം കടന്നേ പറ്റൂ എന്ന് അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.
